How to Have an Amazing Date with Your Partner

written by Peter Minkoff 19th February 2019
date night, date with partner

Whether you’ve been married for more than a decade, or fall into the “it’s complicated” category, organizing a date is always an opportunity to have some fun together.

But, as a parent you may find that you need to be more creative and imaginative than other people. For instance, they might settle for a romantic dinner and a bunch of clichéd gifts, but not you! You’re exploring other options and rediscovering yourself and your partner in a whole new light as parents. So with that in mind, here are some of the most amazing date ideas you could look into. Who knows where it could lead…

Travel to an unknown place

Traveling might not seem like the best way to spend a romantic day initially. But keep in mind that distancing yourself from your everyday surroundings and being alone with your loved one (or ones if you want to take the kids away) is more romantic than it seems at first.

Some of the most popular romantic destinations include cities like Paris, Venice and New York, but nobody says you have to pick these places – instead, find a destination only you will find special. Even if you’re not with a partner, there are a tonne of great destinations available.

Some of the ideas you could consider include going to a local village or a nearby city because these places offer affordable accommodation, wonderful food and a ton of privacy. After all, this is what quality time is all about.

Get your groove on

When was the last time you went dancing? Can you even remember it?

Well, if you can’t, you should definitely take dancing into consideration and pitch this idea to your partner. If they’re up for it, pun on your dancing shoes, get a babysitter, and hit the town!

From bursting into random night clubs to going to an event organized by professionals, dancing is among the best ways to feel young, vibrant and cool again. Want to kick things up a notch in the intimacy stakes?  Well, more than having a good time, think about taking tango lessons that won’t just help you master this amazing dance, but also bring you and your partner closer together – literally and figuratively!

Throw a party

Again, no matter what your love status is at the moment, throwing a party in honour of your loved one always works a treat.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a large scale event, nor should you spend all the money you got, but it needs to provide your friends and partner some great entertainment.

So, find a venue, invite all your friends, turn on some good music and get the party started! Just make sure you do provide everyone with enough food and drinks. As long as your party is packed with tasty cocktails, it’s surely going to be an event everyone will talk about in the months to come too. If you need some help here the Alchemiq blog has some pretty great ideas.

Go scuba diving

This is another exciting and unusual idea that might prove to be the best idea you’ve ever had. Going to a scuba diving spot usually comes with all kinds of adventurous activities and offers you can’t miss.

And there are at least two benefits attached:

  1. It gives you a chance to bond with your partner on a deeper level.
  2. It can also be a start of a hobby you two could practice in the future.

Scuba diving is all about exploring the unknown and doing something you’ve never done. It’s also about finding your path towards the most colorful and visually appealing fish, corals and other sea wonders, and there’s no better way of doing that than by holding your partner’s hand!

Go all in

Instead of doing just one thing in the evening, why don’t you raise the bar and organize a series of events that will last all day long? Start by making breakfast together and eating it in bed, and then start ticking items off your list one by one until it’s time to go to bed again.

Heading out for a meal, going shopping, binge-watching your favorite TV show, hanging out with your friends, or just wondering around the streets and talking are just some of the activities you could incorporate in your ultimate date experience.

While none of these ideas is particularly special on its own, they’re more than cool when packed into one giant celebration you and your partner deserve.

Lots of people have a problem with organizing a date because they feel the pressure to have a great time and act romantic, but if you choose one of these laid-back ideas that are simple yet effective, you’ll surely have the time of your life, and a day your partner will always cherish.

This is so important! Especially as time goes by you got to make the effort, but it can be worth it…
