The Weekend Box Review

We live in an age of convenience, where everything is coming direct to our doors in record time. Time is precious, and we want to make sure we’re making good use of it. Hellofresh is a really interesting example. As more families struggle to find the time or inclination to shop for food – they bring you preprepared ingredients/recipes direct to door every week.

With that in mind, we were excited when Weekend Box reached out to us recently. It’s like HelloFresh, but instead of food, imagine getting a range of activities for your kids, in a box, direct to your door!

At DaddiLife, we always want to find out real deal behind these brilliant ideas, and we got the help of 3 families (The Pott’s, The Killick’s and The Bowen’s) to try it out!

Here’s how it works:

1. Choose what you want

The weekend box review

Weekend Box delivers a special box containing fun activities: something to make, something to explore, something to cook and something green. You can either go for the ‘Mini Box’ which has 2 activities, or the ‘Bumper Box’ with 4.

Each box is personalised for your child’s name, and you get access to an online hub of other activities featuring video ideas for extra crafts.

2. The box arrives to your door

The Weekend Box review - DaddiLife

“The box fits easily through the letter box and the packaging was good (very environmentally friendly as there was no plastic!)” – The Bowens

“It’s nicely packaged and presented” – The Killicks

All the parents told us that when it arrives it’s like getting a new present. The kids love it, and probably had as much fun unwrapping the box as the activities! The packaging is all environmentally friendly too.

Off to a good start.

3. It’s activity time!

The Weekend Box Review - DaddiLife

“The way the activities were organised was very clear with the different coloured paper bags matching the coloured instruction cards. Also the photos and instructions were so easy to follow” – The Bowens

From making marshmallow and biscuit cups, painting the Van Gogh sunflowers, and making your own DIY Piccasso Face, there are huge range of activities for the kids to get stuck into.

They all differ in terms of time needed, but generally can be done in around 20 minutes per activity and are mostly indoors. The Killicks noted that some activities took less time to complete than stated, and each new box is different.

Who is this for?

The Weekend Box Review - DaddiLife

“I often buy the girls magazines which cost sometimes £4.99 and then struggle to get them to do any of the activities inside. However, the weekend box seemed to completely captivate their interests” – The Bowens

“We have a plastic storage tower full of things to do, we’re always popping into Hobbycraft, Wilcos or any discounters and just picking stuff up like stickers, paints, drawing materials and anything crafty. If folks are too busy to shop for things then they will try things like this” –  The Potts

The Weekend Box is primarily for children aged 3-6 and definitely solves a convenience gap. While there are a ton of choices when it comes to children’s actvities, one of the hardest things can be deciding what to do, when, and putting the wheels in motion. In that regard Weekend Box is great as it sends you a diverse range of activities. But, like Hello Fresh, it’s not for everybody, and if you have great access to kids crafts nearby as well as a decent amount of time to get all the bits, then Weekend Box probably won’t be for you. But if you want to try something a little different that gets your kids involved in something special right from the letter box, then this will be right up your street.

A very special ? thanks? to the Hillocks, Bowens and Potts’ for giving their reviews. If you want to get the latest products for free to review, just contact us.

Weekend Box have an offer for our readers to get the first box ABSOLUTELY FREE. Just sign up here to give it a go and get playing!
